Maintenance of your business’ online presence is tricky and time consuming. It’s further complicated by the fact that virtually anyone can create a fake Facebook or social media page for your company. Facebook has a mechanism by which trademark owners can request an infringing Facebook page be taken down.
In order to request the takedown, you must provide Facebook with detailed information about your trademark, business, and the nature of the infringing site. The user requesting the action must read through a series of lengthy legal disclaimers, as well.
If you’re intimidated by this process, give give us a call. I recently helped a client navigate this process. The page, which had been giving them trouble for years, being taken down within 24 hours.
